On August 21st, the Magnus Mitbø educational award for academic excellence was presented to M.Sc Michael Nilan (third from right) by the Norwegian Engineers and Managers Association (FLT). The award was presented for work he did in completing his master’s thesis, entitled “Microalgae Harvesting Using Salsnes Filter Technology,” at the University of Stavanger, Norway. After thorough consideration, the Magnus Mitbø educational award is presented by professionals from the industry and the academic world in recognition of exceptional educational achievement.
Mr. Nilan’s master’s thesis dealt with improving the algae harvesting process to be considerably more efficient and cost effective through the use of Salsnes Filter Technology. The harvesting process is comprised of three crucial stages: 1) particle separation, 2) thickening and, 3) dewatering. In addition to extensive literature research, Mr. Nilan contributed to the testing and development of this state of the art technology at a wastewater treatment plant in Spain. The work he did, performed in connection with his master studies, was done as part of an international consortium research project co-funded by the EU and organized by Salsnes Filter.

Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) is the global platform to share and co-create innovative water solutions. Stakeholders from the global water industry gather at SIWW to share business opportunities and showcase the latest water technologies. SIWW is part of the strategic program of the Singapore Government to grow the water industry and develop water technologies.
SIWW 2014 will feature discussions on four themes, namely: Municipal Water, Industrial Water, Integrated City-Environment-Water, and Future of Water, where there will be exploration on forward-looking solutions to meet future challenges and scenarios.
We will be exhibiting together with three other Trojan Technologies businesses (Aquafine, OpenCEL and TrojanUV). Be sure to stop by our stand, G16, to learn about Salsnes Filter technology and see our products on display.

In its 87th year, the Arizona Water Association Annual Conference & Exhibition is being held in Glendale with the theme “Public Investment in Water for a Strong Economy and Healthy Communities”. We will be there at booth # 405 alongside another Trojan Technologies business, TrojanUV.

During the WEAO Technical Symposium on Monday, April 7, our own Rob Jansen will be presenting from 11:30 – 12:00pm. He will be speaking about the City of Enderby WWTP and their use of the Salsnes Filter system for filtration, sludge thickening and dewatering.
